Description:

Curve was founded with a rebellious spirit, and a lofty vision; to truly simplify your finances, so you can focus on what matters most in life.

That’s why Curve puts your finances simply at your fingertips, so you can make smart choices on how to spend, send, see and save your money. We help you control your financial life, so you can go out and live the life you want to live.

With Curve you can spend from all your accounts, track spend behaviour and provide insights, and security to protect you from fraud. For the first time giving you bright insights and control of all your money in one beautiful place.

We’re developing a ground-breaking product with our customers at the core. Our user base is growing rapidly and we have exceptional metrics. We have funding from the leading names in tech investment, and a visionary leadership team who wants everyone who joins this remarkable adventure, to have the autonomy to masterfully develop their expertise.

Welcome to Curve. On a mission to help you live inspired.

Role Purpose:

We’re looking for an experienced data analyst who can build strong relationships with stakeholders and executives to identify and explore opportunities our customers will love. Crucially, you are not just someone who pulls figures or just builds dashboards, you will be adding valuable insight to help drive data-led decisions within the organisation.

Proactiveness rather than reactiveness is the aim of the game. The ideal candidate is someone who knows how to ask the right questions, yet can work autonomously to deliver upon stakeholder requests. Someone who has experience in helping to shape company strategy through data utilisation and can measure performance against key metrics is preferred. Strong technical skills is a must as you will be working closely with the Analytical Engineering team to help model and clean data.

The initial focus for the role will be on growing our customer base, so you will take your lead in day-to-day operations from the Growth Manager, but report functionally to the Head of Analytics who will assist career development and work with you to ensure you stay up to date with the latest analytical developments.

We partner with our data engineering, analytics engineering and machine-learning teams to share the workload of data tracking, modelling and cleaning. Moreover, we are different from most startup analytics teams in that we spend most of our time in research mode, essentially exploring and interpreting data (the fun stuff!). Importantly though you still will need to roll up your sleeves and get into the nitty-gritty of the data to understand where it comes from and what it represents so that you can correctly interpret the output. This ultimately means that your main focus will be on proactive discovery deep dives, along with recommendations that influence roadmaps and company strategy. You can expect to be closely involved in the launch of exciting new initiatives, create a pipeline of product opportunities, grow revenue for the company, focus on improving the customer experience, kickstart predictive modelling capabilities and establish processes for the long-term.

You should definitely apply if you’re a well-rounded analyst with strong analytical and technical skills, as well as a business mind and the ability to think critically. We’re especially looking for curious “doers” who are passionate about deep-dive analysis, experimentation, building relationships with stakeholders across the business, and telling stories through data. It will be particularly interesting to you if you’re knowledgeable about consumer finance, customer journeys and/or behavioural economics. We promise a no-nonsense interview process, challenging problems to solve, lots of autonomy, a direct communication culture, and an environment where you can achieve your dreams.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Discovery analyses: Proactively identifying discovery opportunities; Interpreting data to develop new revenue streams, optimise propositions and offers and improve the customer experience; Influencing the roadmaps of product/business teams through compelling data storytelling and viable recommendations.
  • Data manipulation and interpretation: Ability to handle and work with large datasets, clean and preprocess data, and extract meaningful insights from them. Strong SQL skills are a must!
  • Data modelling: Working alongside data engineers and analytics engineers to design and build data pipelines, create seamless data models and enable self-service across teams.
  • Tracking & Attribution: Working with back-end, front-end, DevOps & QA engineers to ensure that our data models are well designed so that we can correctly attribute customers to marketing campaigns and analyse their post-sign up behaviours.
  • Evangelisation: Helping us implement a data-driven mindset in the company by educating others and building self-service reports.
  • Mixed methods: Working closely with the marketing, product and data science teams to uncover deeper insights about how our customers interact with the products.
  • Pioneering: Driving best practices in terms of data quality and code quality.
  • Working mainly with dbt, Snowplow/Kafka and Looker in a Google Cloud Platform environment (BigQuery, Google Analytics).

Requirements:

Career Growth at Curve

Just as we want to redefine the financial landscape, we’re looking to fundamentally change the way people approach their work and progress their careers. We’re cultivating an environment where the best talent can challenge themselves, achieve their goals for professional growth, while doing great work for our customers. We’ve put together the Curve Career Growth Framework – a set of principles, frameworks, and processes to support all Curvers to grow, navigate and advance their careers.

Our Leadership Principles

1

Obsess about the customer.

Customers buy experiences, not features. Start with the customer and work backwards. Leaders work hard to impact customers’ lives, earn their trust, and create delight.

2

Extreme Ownership

Curvers are owners of Curve and their work. They take personal responsibility. They remind their team about the bigger picture and the “why”. They embrace failures and gratitude the team for the wins. They constantly seek for possible ways to increase the team’s efficiency, and disregard functional boundaries to deliver value to the entire company. They don’t sacrifice long-term value for short-term results. They are in the details, see things through to completion, and never say “that’s not my job.”

3

Think big and innovate.

Everything is possible. Leaders challenge assumptions, build on previous discoveries, and suggest better approaches. They are focused, bold, adaptable, and resourceful.

4

Build. Measure. Learn.

Leaders keep learning, improving, and striving to learn the ‘why’. They are intellectually curious about new possibilities and explore them. They move quickly into action and shorten the time to first feedback. They seek diverse views, form good judgment, apply rigour, and measure impact to drive improvement.

5

Automate and accelerate.

Once Leaders discover the right thing to do, they eliminate manual steps and address more complex problems. Make manual work redundant, and focus back on the Mission.

6

Bias for action.

Speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not require extensive study. Leaders identify easily reversible decisions and move into action. We value calculated risk taking.

7

Earn trust

Leaders listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully. They are vocally self-critical, even when doing so is awkward or embarrassing. They believe relationships and collaboration are the foundation for producing good outcomes. They follow through on their commitments, and communicate often with honesty and intent.

8

Obligation to Dissent.

Leaders are obliged to respectfully challenge decisions when they disagree, even if doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. Leaders have conviction and are passionate. They do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. And, once a decision is made, they commit wholly.

9

Hire and Develop the Best.

Leaders raise the performance bar with every hire and promotion. They apply the Keepers’ Principle, recognise exceptional talent, and develop them purposefully. Leaders develop Leaders and take their role in coaching others, seriously.

10

Deliver results.

Leaders recognise that it takes an investment of time and effort to achieve greatness. They strive for perfection, but settle for excellence in every part of their work. They have the courage to admit when they’re wrong. They care about accomplishing great work, and reward impact. Despite setbacks, they rise to the occasion and never compromise.
